Yesterday, Drake was spotted attending the CIFSS Southern Open Division Boys Basketball Final which took place south of the border. The event marked the debut of Bronny James, the oldest son of LeBron James who plays for the two-time defending champions, the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers. The high school basketball playoff quickly turned into a star-studded affair with various celebrities in attendance. Among them were Drake’s son Adonis, LeBron’s Lakers teammates J.R. Smith and Jared Dudley, Indiana Pacer Cassius Stanley, NCAA players Scottie Barnes and Brandon Boston, rapper G Herbo and of course, LeBron himself.
With a flawless record of 15-0, the Trailblazers were all set to enter the sectional finals for the fourth consecutive year. However, their star player, Bronny, faced an injury in February and sat out for most of the regular season. Despite this setback, he managed to score 7 points in the 15 minutes he played during the game. His teammate Amari Bailey took the reins and scored an impressive 33 points. However, despite their best efforts, the Corona Centennial team emerged victorious with a score of 80-72. Amari Bailey, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, has committed to playing for the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team post his high school graduation. Fans on social media cannot stop talking about Drake and LeBron’s ecstatic reaction to Bailey’s jaw-dropping dunk towards the end of the game.
Bailey’s spirits were lifted by the two famous personalities who not only left him disappointed but also motivated him with their words of encouragement. Bailey shared that Drake approached him after his loss and shared some of his own setbacks before achieving success, advising him to remain optimistic. Moreover, LeBron James reminded Bailey of his personal experience losing the finals on his home court, only to come back stronger and win the championship the next year.
