Last month, a tabby cat with orange and white fur was seen outside in the snow, struggling with a limp and in need of assistance. A neighbor posted about the cat’s plight on social media, leading to a group of volunteers from the community joining forces to help. However, when they arrived at the scene, they discovered that the cat had wandered off.

To everyone’s surprise, it was 12-year-old David who stepped in and managed to rescue the cat.

While out in the snow, David noticed a cat from Chatons Orphelins Montreal struggling to move in the cold. Concerned for the feline’s well-being, he decided to rescue it. David brought the tired cat home to his parents, where it was clear the tabby was exhausted and struggling to move swiftly. Celine from Chatons Orphelins Montreal mentioned how the cat couldn’t run and moved slowly due to its condition.

At La Voix des Chats/L’Antre Chat, David’s parents ensured the safety of their cat by keeping him indoors, and David affectionately named him Oskar. Veronique and Guylaine, dedicated volunteers of the organization, quickly came to their aid when they heard about Oskar’s disappearance. While caring for Oskar, they observed his weakened back legs, with one of them bending in an unusual direction.

Two volunteers at La Voix des Chats/L’Antre Chat found out that Oskar, a cat they rescued, was actually blind and had been roaming the streets blindly. Despite his disability, Oskar displayed a sweet and gentle demeanor, appearing thankful to finally be taken in. After receiving some nourishment and fluids, he curled up on a soft blanket, slept peacefully in a warm bed that night.

In order to provide Oskar with the necessary medical treatment, they reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montreal for help.
“When he was brought to us, he was in a bad state. He had a high fever, was dehydrated, and weighed just 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). He was battling a severe infection,” Celine revealed.

Oskar, a resident at ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal, has adjusted easily to his new environment and immediately began purring when he was petted. Despite being blind due to retinal atrophy, he gets around the house with ease using sound cues. He also has a lot to say, especially when he’s waiting for his food. Additionally, Oskar may have a problem with one of his hind legs, possibly missing a ligament which causes his ankle to twist, but he doesn’t let that slow him down.

He loves interacting with his humans, enjoying the soothing sound of their voices as they speak to him gently. Oskar is always moving around, exploring his surroundings with a growing sense of curiosity and becoming more and more lively with each passing day.
